Presented by the Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre, The Nutcracker Ballet is a magical holiday treat that has become perhaps the most popular ballet performed at Christmas time.

The story is set on a festive Christmas Eve where the Stahlbaums and their two children Clara & Fritz, are having their annual Christmas party and welcoming friends, family and other children to their home. A favorite godfather arrives who is a skilled toy maker. He has brought beautiful toys for all the children. He has made a special gift for his favored Clara and presents her with a magnificent Nutcracker which is instantly the hit of the party. Her brother Fritz is jealous and grabs the Nutcracker and breaks it. Clara is heartbroken! The godfather quickly manages to repair the Nutcracker and the party eventually comes to an end and the family retires for the evening. Later, Clara is worried about her beloved Nutcracker and sneaks back downstairs to the tree to check on him falling asleep with him in her arms near the tree.

At the stroke of midnight, the enchantment begins and all of the toys magically come to life! A fierce mystical battle unfolds between the Mouse King and his army of mice and the Nutcracker and his army of toy soldiers! The Nutcracker is captured by the mice and their King. Clara makes a daring charge at the Mouse King and rescues her Nutcracker who then turns into a Prince and takes Clara on a mesmerizing journey to the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and are rewarded with a celebration of dances.

This enchanting story ends with Clara awakening from her dream by the Christmas tree with her beloved Nutcracker in her arms.
